FALL 2006…A MELTING POT OF STYLE

Shopping for Fall fashions is always more fun than any other time of the year. Perhaps it is the rich color palette, or the wonderful fabrications…It might be the ability to layer, the incredible choice in accessories, or the luxurious feeling. What I find most refreshing about Fall is the new energy that it gives us.

When fall fashions start arriving, people are happier, there is a crispness to their attitudes… a freshness of a new start. The tiredness from the heat has worn away and thoughts of seasonal events, football games, boots, and fun clothes flirt with us.

This years Fall Runway is more exciting than ever because it is a modern illustration of how style is eternal and fashion cyclical. Our foray into cooler weather this year will be met by a melange of images that allow individual expression, femininity, and soul. The clothes are reminiscent of the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s…but when you look more closely, a reflection of the elegance of the forties. Throw all of that into the pot, combined with innovative textiles, trims, and color and you have a modern edge to that of yesteryear.

Some of the staple basics for your wardrobe this year would be ‘The White Shirt’, The’Cardigan’, ‘The Dress’, ‘Boot’ Shorts or Crop Pants, and for those who dare, ‘Leggings’.

The main trend is ‘Be Yourself!’ There is no wrong way to do it this year. Anything goes…layers upon layers, mixing a collage of color, varied lengths within the same ensemble, tailored coordinated with whimsy or funky, and matte mixed with shine. It is time to become the canvas and the artist. Allow the masterpiece of you to emerge from all of the mixed media.

Fashion no longer has rules…it actually never did. However we, with our minds, created rules and boundaries we would not cross. Life is about creating…and that includes creating and recreating ourselves. How fun is it to live in a box? Tear down the walls of what you consider to be you and start over. Reinvent yourself! Madonna does it all the time, as does Oprah, Brad Pitt and a host of other celebrities. The worst thing someone could ever say to you is ” I saw something in a store the other day and it looked just like you.” Why? Because it means you have fallen into the safe zone of being predictable. Growth comes from adventure…what greater place to start than with your wardrobe!

Until the next…Fashion Emergency!!!

Warmest Regards,
